HSLL has established a single point of communication for all COVID-19 related questions or issues at the email address email@example.com. This address will be monitored by HSLL leadership so that any required next steps are handled quickly.
Sports Safety protocols will be sent directly to each of our constituents via email with the requirement that they be acknowledged and agreed to via this form.
Current Sports Safety protocols will be posted to our website on our dedicated COVID-19 update page.
All coaches, staff and volunteers will be educated on these protocols prior to the season via mandatory virtual meetings.
HSLL will encourage the use of the Nevada COVID Trace app for coaches, managers, players, staff, officials, volunteers and household members, and will cooperate with local health authorities on contact tracing.
Face covering are to be worn at all times by players coaches, managers, staff, officials, parents/guardians, volunteers, attendees and spectators unless:
Actively eating or drinking
An exemption can be applied
Actively exercising or participating in practice or competition
HSLL will strongly encourage players to wear face coverings throughout active practice and competition.
Face coverings must fully cover the mouth and nose, and must fit snugly against the sides of the face with no gaps.
Every team will designate at least one individual at each practice, game or other team event who will enforce the face covering mandates, as well physical distancing and cleaning protocols.
Adult coaches, managers, officials, and any team staff or volunteers will be required to take a COVID-19 test prior to the beginning of the season. HSLL will work with each team to arrange for testing as close to the start of the season as possible, and to mitigate any testing costs.
Players will be strongly encouraged to test for COVID-19 prior to the start of the season.
Contactless temperature screenings will be conducted for players, coaches, managers, officials, staff, volunteers, spectatores and attendees prior to each practice, game or other team event. Temperatures should be below 100.4.
Designated screening/entrance areas will be created at each practice/game/event venue, as close as possible to participants’ points of entry.
All players, coaches, managers, officials, staff, volunteers, spectatores and attendees will be required to respond to COVID-19 screening questions below on the day of each practice, game or other team event. They will have the option of responding to the following screening questions electronically prior to arrival via THIS FORM, or in person at the event site.
Have you experienced any of the following symptoms in the past 48 hours?: Fever or chills; Cough; Shortness of breath; Muscle or body aches; Headache; New loss of taste or smell; Sore throat; Congestion or runny nose; Nausea or vomiting; Diarrhea
Within the past 14 days, have you been in close physical contact (6 feet or closer for at least 15 minutes) with a person who is know to have a confirmed case of COVID-19, or with anyone who has any symptoms consistent with COVID-19?
Are you isolating or quarantining because you many have been exposed to a person with COVID-19 or are worried you may be sick with COVID-19?
Are you currently waiting on the results of a COVID-19 test?
Responses to screening questions for each person will be recorded and stored.
Players, coaches, managers, officials, staff will be reminded to regularly assess for symptoms and exposure.
Parents/guardians will be reminded to watch for signs of illness in their children and themselves, and to stay home when sick.
If Someone Displays Symptoms
Any person reporting positive symptoms (yes to any screening questions) or with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will not be allowed admittance to or to take part in the practice, game or other team event and will be asked to leave immediately. If they arrive with other people as part of their group, everyone in that group will be declined admittance and/or participation and must leave immediately.
They will be advised to go home, stay isolated and to contact their primary health-care provider or local health authority for further instructions
They will be provided with face coverings if necessary and helped to minimize contact with others while leaving.
Any areas used by the individuals will be disinfected immediately.
Vulnerable individuals should not be present at any practice, game or other team event.
Limitations on Gatherings/Spectators
Capacity at each practice or playing venue will not exceed the current limitations per State directives in place at the time.
Practices should be limited to coaches, managers and players only. Spectators and nonessential personnel are discouraged and if present, must be masked and remain physically distanced.
Spectators MAY be allowed at competitions, at the discretion of HSLL and in accordance with State directives in place at the time.*
When allowed, spectator admittance will occur though the designated entry points and be screened for COVID symptoms as described above.
Numbers will be tracked and capped when maximum occupancy is reached.
Capacity will be limited to the point where 6 feet of physical distancing can be maintained in all areas.
Spectators will remain at least 12 feet off the sidelines when watching games.
Face coverings are mandatory for all spectators.
Spectators will stay at least six feet apart from groups outside their own household
*As of this writing, two adult spectators per player, and any minor children (i.e., siblings) in the same household will be allowed for Spring 2021 games held at HSLL’s permitted game sites.
If a competition takes place at a venue other than an HSLL permitted site (such as a high school campus or out of area facility) the spectator and COVID policies of that venue will take precedence and must be followed.
Practices and games will be scheduled with a minimum of 30 minutes between start times, to minimize arrival/departure congestion.
Coaches, managers and players should not arrive more than 20 minutes before their games and will wait off-site in a manner that avoids grouping and maintains at least 6 feet of physical distance (ie. in vehicles) until participants in any previous activity have left the area.
- Players, coaches, managers, officials, staff, volunteers, spectators and attendees must enter sites via designated screening/entrance areas.
When the venue allows, HSLL will designate areas of appropriate size for teams to occupy until they can take the field safely.
Spectators, if allowed, may not enter the game site more than 10 minutes prior to start time, and should wait off-site (ie. in vehicles) until participants in any previous activity have left the area.
Spectators should stay off the immediate sidelines of games where their child is not participating to allow room for proper distancing of the other spectators.
Teams should depart the field within 5 minutes of a game’s end. Post-game discussions must be physically distanced and brief. Player’s must take all their belongings.
No congregating in parking lots or common areas before, during or after practices, games or other team events.
All trash and belongings are to be picked up by team members and personnel after each practice, game or other team event.
Designated monitors will be assigned for each team to monitor and enforce physical distancing requirements of 6 feet at all sites at the venue, including team sidelines, spectator viewing areas, entrances, exits and restrooms.
Wherever possible, physical guides and signage will be used to indicate appropriate physical distance.
There will be no pre or post game handshakes at competitions
Game table personnel will be seated a minimum of 6 feet apart. When possible game table personnel will be staff from the team to avoid additional outside individuals in the playing area.
As possible, players will be spaced 6 feet apart while participating in drills, warmups, conditioning etc.
There will be no unnecessary physical contact (huddles, high fives, handshakes, fist bumps, hugs etc) at any practice, game or team event.
Teams members will travel to and from practices, games and team events with members of their immediate household only.
A monitor will be designated for each team to assure that water bottles and equipment are not shared and physical distance is maintained
As possible, players will be spaced 6 feet apart while participating in drills, warmups, conditioning etc.
Coaches and players adhere to 6-foot physical distancing as much as is possible during practices, games and team events, including on the sidelines and during drills.
Equipment on sidelines should be spaced to maintain 6-foot physical distancing
No high fives, handshakes, huddles or other physical contact.
All players use their own equipment and clothing--no sharing or swapping.
Players must bring their own pre filled water bottles and must not share water bottles. There will be no shared drinking stations.
No shared or communal food or beverages are allowed.
No spitting or eating seeds, gum, or other similar products are allowed.
If a coach, manager, or player of the same team tests positive for COVID-19, the entire team (if they had been in close contact with the positive individual) will quarantine for 10 days. All team activities and practices will be canceled during the quarantine period.
If a household member of a coach, manager, or player of the same team tests positive for COVID-19, that coach, manager, or player will notify HSLL at firstname.lastname@example.org and will cease all activities with the team for 10 days from the most recent exposure even if she/he tested negative.
If a player, coach, or team staff member becomes sick with COVID-19 and exhibits symptoms, they will notify HSLL at email@example.com. They will cease all athletic activity and participation and will be suspended until 10 days of home isolation are completed and symptoms were resolved for at least 24 for hours after that. Symptomatic cases cannot return to the team even if test results are negative. Local health officials as well as any potentially affected staff, volunteers and families will be notified, while maintaining proper confidentiality.
HSLL will require medical clearance for anyone who previously tested positive for COVID-19, before they can resume activity.
HSLL will shut down any facility for deep cleaning and disinfection, to the extent possible. (Our venues are all outdoors.) Disinfectants on the approved list for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 will be used for cleaning.
Frequently touched or high traffic areas including entrances, exits, check-in tables, game tables, gate handles etc., will be disinfected at minimum between practices, games or team events with disinfectants that are included on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved list for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.
Alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol will be readily available to all participants at all venues, as will tissues, trash receptacles, disposable face masks and disinfecting products.
No concession stands will be operated by HSLL.
Every team will designate at least one individual at each practice, game or other team event who will enforce cleaning protocols as well as face covering mandates and physical distancing.
Parents and players will be reminded to wash jerseys, uniforms and practice clothing after each use.
All participants will be required to practice healthy hygiene including washing their hands frequently and covering their sneezes and coughs. Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after touching shared objects or blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
